Overview

Establishment of Respiratory Nurse Clinics – Mackay, QLD

Mackay has a population of 80 000+ people and is located on the eastern coast of northern Queensland.

Asthma Australia estimates that 45% of people do not have well controlled asthma, and according to 2018 Mackay Base Hospital data, 4% of all Emergency Department (ED) presentations were respiratory disease related (Asthma and/or COPD).

The Breathe Easy, Breathe Safe Project is targeted towards a collaborative model of care between the acute and primary health care sectors aiming to improve asthma and COPD management within the Mackay region.
